FAQ

How is therapy helpful?

Therapy is an interactive process. Through therapy, client and therapist work together toward a mutually agreed upon set of goals. As therapists, we’re highly trained, active listeners and hands-on guides who help our clients by providing perspective, strategies and guidance for addressing difficulties, uncovering strengths and developing new skills and tools to overcome life’s challenges. (We don’t help fix you, because we believe you are already whole.)

Who do you help?

We offer individual, relationship and group therapy services to folx of all backgrounds, orientations, identities, expressions, and relationship and family constellations.

How do I know if a therapist is right for me?

Connection is key to the therapy relationship. Research shows that successful therapy is rooted in the therapeutic relationship which means the relationship you have with your therapist is the most important factor in healing. We encourage you to read through our therapist bios and see if anyone feels like a fit for you. We offer 15 minute consultations with our intake coordinator to talk through what you are looking for and if we might be able to help. We have a strong referral network of other therapists we trust who we can refer you to if we are not able to work together.

How often should we meet?

Therapy sessions typically take place once a week or every other week. Over time, some clients choose to continue therapy on a less frequent basis, or return to regular sessions during times of need.

How long will therapy last? (How will I know therapy is working?)

The duration of therapy is individual and dependent upon your needs and preferences. Progress typically happens gradually and how long someone stays in therapy depends on many factors. We like to remove the stigma of therapy only serving to “solve a problem” and instead see therapy as a way of living. Therapy is about prioritizing you and your mental health so you can keep showing up to your life as your best self. We believe in long term relationships with our clients meaning there will be times in your life you are regularly coming into therapy, taking meditation classes, or participating in any of our group programs. There also will be times in your life where you aren’t coming in as regularly. You will always be a part of Ample + Rooted and we honor the ebb and flow of life and are here for you however we can best support you.

How does online therapy work?

Online therapy takes place through a secure teletherapy platform. While we miss seeing our clients in person, we are incredibly humbled at how powerful and transformational online therapy can be. All you need is a private space and a strong Internet connection.

What are your office hours?

We strive to provide accessible therapy and offer appointments after work and school hours in addition to typical daytime hours.

What is the first appointment like?

It is normal to feel a little anxious when first starting therapy. Prior to your first session, we will ask you to complete some paperwork so we get a better sense of you and what brings you to our work together. You will receive a link to use for your online telehealth session and you will log on at your appointment time. In the first session, your therapist will ask questions to expand on the information you provided in the initial paperwork. Together you will explore the areas you would like support with and at the end of session you both will check in on how the session felt and if you feel like it will be a good fit.

Will you get tired of hearing me talk about the same things over and over again?

Not at all! We are here to hold space for you and whatever arises during our time together. In fact, based on neuroscience, repetition is actually needed for long term, sustainable healing.

Do you offer reduced rates?
We offer limited reduced rate options. If our fee is not workable for you, please inquire about a reduced rate. We are dedicated to providing referrals in case we’re not able to work together.

Do you accept insurance?

While we do not accept insurance, we can provide monthly receipts for you to submit to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Payment is required at the time of service.

What is your cancellation policy?

We request that you cancel or reschedule your appointment within 48 hours of your appointment time. You will incur the full fee rate for missed sessions not cancelled or rescheduled within 48 hours.
