Lalita Akers, MD

Dr. Lalita M. Akers is a psychiatrist from Cleveland, Ohio. She relocated to Winston-Salem, North Carolina to attend Wake Forest University, and graduated with a degree in Biology. Dr. Akers attended the Wake Forest University School of Medicine. She completed her general psychiatry residency and fellowship in child/adolescent psychiatry at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. She is board certified in general psychiatry and child/adolescent psychiatry. Dr. Akers recently completed a fellowship in integrative psychiatry with the Integrative Psychiatry Institute of Boulder, Colorado. She is a member of the American Psychiatry Association.

Dr. Akers’ passion for the treatment of eating disorders developed during her medical training, and she is thrilled to be a member of the team at EDCare Denver! In addition to her role as an attending psychiatrist, Dr. Akers is proud to serve as the Chief Medical Officer of EDCare. She utilizes a patient-centered approach and considers the whole person: Mind, Body and Spirit.  In addition to her medical background, Dr. Akers continues to develop and utilize various modalities, such as complementary and alternative treatments. She sees herself as a guide for clients on their journey to a healthier self. Dr. Akers loves collaborating with patients from all walks of life, especially underserved populations.

In her free time, Dr. Akers enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, practicing Yoga, energy-healing and studying astronomy.
